Frozen Grand Marnier Pie

A creamy Pie with Grand Marnier and topped with a homemade Chocolate Sauce.

I was trying to come up with a recipe that had flavors of Orange, Cream and Chocolate involved. I had recently made a creamy lemon pie and thought I could make something similar, but maybe make a frozen Pie this time, since it is a hot and humid summer in the state where I live. This Pie is refreshing with the hints of Orange flavor but oh so creamy and the Chocolate Sauce really tops it off!

FROZEN GRAND MARNIER PIE

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Cup Grand Marnier
  • 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 (14 oz.) can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Orange Juice
  • Zest from 1 Orange
  • 1 &1/2 Cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Stick Unsalted Butter, melted

Chocolate Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 & 1/2 Cups Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • Dash of Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Water
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place a glass or metal bowl in the refrigerator to chill.

2. In a medium saucepan, stir together the Cocoa, Sugar and Salt, making sure there are no lumps.

3. Whisk in the Cold Water and cook the Chocolate Sauce over medium/high heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and continue to whisk for an additional 2 minutes. Remove the Chocolate Sauce from the heat. Whisk in the Vanilla. Set Aside.

4. In a large mixing bowl stir together the Graham Cracker Crumbs, Sugar and Brown Sugar. Pour the melted Butter over the Graham Cracker Crumbs and stir with a fork, ensuring all the Crumbs get moistened and start to come together. Press the Graham Cracker Crumb mixture into a 9″ or 10″ pie plate, evenly covering the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate.

5. Bake the Graham Cracker Crust for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes remove the Crust from the oven and allow it to cool completely.

6. Once the Crust has cooled completely, stir together the Sweetened Condensed Milk, Grand Marnier, Orange Juice and Orange Zest. Set aside.

7. In the chilled mixing bowl, whip the Whipping Cream with a handheld mixer until stiff peaks form.

8. Carefully fold the Grand Marnier mixture into the Heavy Whipping Cream.

9. Transfer the Pie Filling into the Pie Crust. Spread the Filling out evenly in the Pie Crust. I like to add a little Orange Zest on top of the Filling at this point but that is completely optional.

10. Place the Grand Marnier Pie into the freezer. Freeze for 6-8 hours.

11. Remove the Pie from the freezer about 15 minutes prior to serving. That will soften it slightly to make it easier to slice. You can also run a knife under hot water to warm the blade, then wipe the blade off and then use the warm knife to slice the Pie.

12. To serve, place a slice of the Pie on a dessert plate and drizzle with the Homemade Chocolate Sauce.

13. Store the leftover Chocolate Sauce in a glass jar with a lid. Leftover Pie should be stored in the freezer.
