The flavors of Pecan Pie topped with a swirl of Chocolate.

A rich, dense bar that is full of flavor. These are fairly easy to make but the flavors make it seem like you spent the day in the kitchen. If you love Pecan Pie and Chocolate, you have to give these a try.

CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE BARS

Crust Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar,packed

Pie Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 & 1/2 Cups Chopped Pecans
  • 2 Tablespoons Dark Corn Syrup
  • 3/4 Cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2/3 Cup Brown Sugar, packed

Chocolate Topping:

  • 1 & 1/2 Cups Milk Chocolate Chips

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. To make the Crust, add the the Flour, 1 cup Brown Sugar and 1/2 Cup Butter in a large mixing bowl. Using a handheld mixer, beat on low then increase to medium speed mixing until ingredients are well combined and look like fine crumbs.

3. Press the Crust ingredients evenly into the bottom of a 13 x 9 pan. I use a spatula to press the ingredients down so the crust is even.

4. Sprinkle the Pecan Pieces evenly over the Crust.

5. In a medium saucepan, add 3/4 Cup Butter, 2 Tablespoons Dark Corn Syrup and 2/3 Cup Brown Sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until the ingredients come to a boil. Stir constantly and boil for about 1 minute. Then pour the mixture evenly over the Pecans and Crust.

6. Bake the Bars for 18-20 minutes. All ovens cook differently so check at the fifteen minute mark and keep a close eye on the Bars, you don’t want to overcook them. Look for the filling surface to be bubbly, that is a good indicator to remove the Bars from the oven. It took 18 minutes in my oven for the entire surface to become bubbly.

7. When the Bars are done remove them from the oven then immediately sprinkle the Chocolate Chips on top. I use a frosting spatula to swirl the Chips slightly.

8. Cool the Bars completely. Then cut into 2 x 2 squares.
