Black Forest Cake Topped With Chocolate Ganache
A moist Chocolate Dessert that is easy to make.
This Cake is so delicious and moist! I have a handful of recipes that I start off with a box Cake Mix. I say why not? The box mix is simply taking the place of your dry ingredients so your Cake is essentially still home made.
Adding the Chocolate Ganache on top really takes this Cake to the next level.
BLACK FOREST CAKE TOPPED WITH CHOCOLATE GANACHE
Ingredients:
- 1 (16.5 oz.) Devils Food Cake Mix
- 1 (21 oz.) Can Cherry Pie Filling
- 4 Eggs
- 1 Teaspoon Almond Extract
- 3/4 Cup (6 oz.) Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 2/3 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Spray a 13 x 9 cake pan with nonstick baking spray and set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the Cake Mix, Pie Filling, Almond Extract and the Eggs until everything is incorporated.
4. Transfer the Batter to the prepared pan.
5. Bake the Cake for 25-29 minutes. All ovens cook differently so check your cake at the 25 minute mark. Insert a toothpick in the center, if it comes out clean, the cake is done. My Cake took 29 minutes in my oven. When the Cake is done, remove from oven and allow it to cool completely.
6. Place the Chocolate Chips in a heat safe bowl. Heat the Whipping Cream in a small saucepan until it comes to a boil. Immediately pour the hot Cream over the Chocolate Chips and whisk until smooth. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes stirring it occasionally. After 5 minutes slowly pour the Ganache on top of the cooled Cake and use a frosting spatula to spread the Ganache evenly over the top of the Cake, spreading it out to the edges. Allow the Ganache to cool and set, this should take about 10-15 minutes.
7. Store any leftovers in a covered container.
